Why protect external masonry?
UK rain does more than make a wall look wet.
Porous masonry absorbs water. Repeated saturation can contribute to penetrating damp, staining, biological growth and freeze-thaw deterioration. The objective is to reduce water uptake while allowing water vapour to escape.

How masonry cream works
It protects from inside the pores — not by painting over them.
Unlike a conventional decorative coating, masonry cream is designed to absorb into suitable mineral masonry and chemically bond within the pore structure. Once cured, liquid water is strongly repelled while vapour permeability is retained.

Does masonry cream stop penetrating damp?
It can help where rainwater is penetrating through porous, otherwise sound external masonry by substantially reducing liquid-water absorption. It will not fix every damp cause. Failed pointing, cracks, leaking gutters, rising damp, plumbing leaks and internal condensation need their own diagnosis and repair.
Will masonry cream change the colour of my brickwork?
ProPERLA Masonry Crème is designed to dry clear and preserve the appearance of suitable bare mineral masonry. A small test area is sensible on unusual or highly variable substrates.
Is masonry cream breathable?
Yes. The system is designed to remain highly vapour-permeable because it lines the pore structure rather than intentionally sealing it with an impermeable decorative film.
How long does ProPERLA Masonry Crème last?
The manufacturer states a 20-year product guarantee and reports performance through a 25-year accelerated-weathering test without deterioration in performance or appearance.
Can you apply masonry cream over painted walls?
Usually not as a straightforward masonry-cream application because the cream needs to penetrate the mineral substrate. Painted, coated or previously sealed walls should be surveyed; a breathable façade coating or another preparation/system may be more appropriate.
Can masonry cream make my home warmer?
Keeping masonry drier can reduce the thermal penalty associated with wet walls. ProPERLA reports laboratory testing in which the treated masonry specimen was on average 6°C warmer than untreated masonry under the test conditions. Actual room-temperature and bill savings vary by property and are not guaranteed.
